Please Mr Scrooge!

scrooge-christmas-carolAs part of our topic looking at ‘The Victorians’ we have enjoyed reading ‘The Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens.

We all thought that Scrooge was rather mean not celebrating Christmas, so Class 3 have decided to write to him and persuade him that Christmas is the best time of the year and that he should enjoy it with his family.  We hope you enjoy our letters, and we hope Mr Scrooge might enjoy Christmas too!  Maybe he will write back and tell us all about it.

    Dear Mr Scrooge,

I am writing to you to hopefully convince you to celebrate Christmas
Firstly, the question of whether or not, you should celebrate Christmas is unnecessary, celebrating shows you care about Jesus. We have been rejoicing Jesus’s birth for thousands of years, couldn’t you do the same to make people happy? You can be kind-hearted again.

Secondly, everyone agrees that you have an amazing business and that you are happy to talk and that you have a spectacular shop. Don’t you think that makes you happy? Why don’t you return the favour?

Also, I am sure that you have noticed that people don’t talk about Christmas to you however I think that it is probably the best thing that you have ever celebrated in your whole life. You have enjoyed Christmas once, so why don’t you try to enjoy it again? That will make you and everyone feel happy.

There are many reasons why you should celebrate Christmas, you can spend time with your family and when you open your present, you will yell WOW!!! And then you will be merry.

Imagine, no Christmas, no crackers, no carol singing, even you Mr Scrooge would miss that. I am sure that everyone would appreciate that you might enjoy celebrating Christmas, and then you will always want to celebrate Christmas forever, that would make you regret all the things you yelled and didn’t mean.

Thank you for reading my letter, Merry Christmas

    Yours Sincerely,
    Morgan

    Dear Mr Scrooge,

Secondly, Fred would be amazed if you came round to have an exquisite Christmas dinner with him and his family. It is clear that you should enjoy Christmas and spend a lot of time with your family.

It is obvious that you once enjoyed sharing Christmas with loved ones. Wouldn’t you like to do it again? Everyone agrees that you are such a brilliant businessman, and you have a wonderful office. Also, you are always happy to talk plus you have a lovely nephew Fred. Once you go to Fred’s house you’ll feel overjoyed and you’ll have lots of fun, if not just relax and get some energy. Your face will deliberately light up your way and will feel outstanding.

What would you like for Christmas? Accept Fred’s invite to go to his, don’t be selfish and miserable. Why do you not like Christmas? Fred would feel excited if you joined him. More like surprised shall I say. Anyway it will be lovely because you’ll get to have crackers, turkey and even Christmas pudding.

    Dear Mr Scrooge,

There is no doubt that you won’t celebrate Christmas. Some people think that they shouldn’t rejoice Christmas when they should. It is clear that you have a brilliant business, you’re always happy to talk and you have a wonderful office. So why can’t you be nice and like Christmas. Firstly you have to leave everybody be and have some laughter with your friends. Imagine yourself sitting down near your nephew opening his presents (that will be amazing). I think everybody should join in.

Secondly, if we continue to ignore Christmas everybody will be sad and melancholy. It’s obvious that you should celebrate Christmas don’t you want to have fun? Additionally, we have to rejoice Christmas with the joy of everybody playing and having an exciting time, so why shouldn’t you? Why don’t you have a jolly Christmas? Also, have fun and if you don’t have any friends just go out and make a snowman. It is a valuable time to spend time with your family.

Thirdly, I would spend time with family. I think another reason is because you get to play lots and lots of games! There are still many reasons and I could go on and on. This amazing outstanding exquisite Christmas will be the most amazing we’ve ever had. This is an extraordinary way to celebrate Christmas.

Now remember what I said. It is important to realise that you should love it. Please listen to me .Thank you for reading this.

    Yours sincerely
    Ashley

    Dear Mr Scrooge
I hope you don’t get angry with me writing about Christmas to you. The fact is that the whole letter is about Christmas. Many people believe that you hate Christmas, but I don’t. I just think you miss it all out, that’s all. That is why I am writing to you.

Firstly, it is not fair if you don’t come to parties. There is no doubt that your nephew, Fred is one of them. You could get what you need as a present. Christmas only lasts 1 day a year. Join in or miss this spectacular day for another year. It would make people happier if you started to like Christmas and not hating it and ignoring it.

Secondly, On Christmas you work. Fred wants to spend time with you. It would a pleasure if you came. It would be a delight if you came. Fred will be happy.

Thirdly, it is important to know that Christmas is one of the most liked days in the year, so don’t spoil it. It wouldn’t hurt to celebrate it, would it? Please accept this letter, Mr Scrooge.

    Dear Mr Scrooge
I hope you don’t mind me writing to you about Christmas. You should like Christmas because it is jolly. Firstly everyone agrees that you’re kind and friendly and gentle so please be happy about Christmas.

Furthermore, you were happy about Christmas than you’d start to like Christmas again then, because you’re all alone people might invite you round for a cup of tea. If you don’t, you’ll miss out all the exciting parts of Christmas celebrations.

Many people believe that Christmas happens because of Jesus birth. You should love Christmas because you get to open your presents, but I suppose that you don’t get any presents because no one gives you any. The truth is that you never really liked Christmas but you should have a bit of faith in yourself and be a bit more generous.

I have to admit that you are quite kind to people so carry on with that.

    Yours sincerely,

    Ellie

    Dear Mr Scrooge,

I hope you don’t mind me writing to you about Christmas, but you don’t rejoice Christmas, and you are missing out on valuable time with Fred. If you continue to ignore Christmas you will be ignored. You are a very nice man to talk to, but you are very selfish. If you continue to be bad tempered you will not have any friends. I know you don’t care about anything except money. You continue ignoring everyone don’t you? You don’t believe in ghosts do you? If you ignore Christmas every time, everyone will feel sad and will never like you to celebrate Christmas. Please never ignore Christmas.

Despite the fact that you are a bit mean you can still celebrate Christmas. I know you have it in you, but can you celebrate Christmas with Fred and your other family? Christmas is great good, good great, you won’t be happy for Christmas unless you can be nicer, and I know you know that you can be nicer.

Just think about it. You can’t celebrate Jesus’ birth without Fred can you? Please can you celebrate Christmas with Fred? Scrooge can you be nice, and be with Fred and his family? I have faith in you. Just go to him and you will be much happier. I know you have a bad life, so go up to him and spend Christmas with him! You can be nicer and kinder I know you can be whatever you want to be Scrooge. You can do it, you can do it! You can be the most cheerful men ever!

Despite the fact that you are a bit grumpy, you can still be kind only if you want to. Well I’m sure you can. You can do it, you can do it! I’m sure you can be a better person can’t you? Are you sad enough to be sad? I don’t want you to be sad and I’m sure you don’t. So do you agree with me?

    Yours sincerely

    Dr Mr Scrooge,

I am writng to you because Christmas is a great time of year. Firstly, if you didn’t celebrate Christmas you wouldn’t be able to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Everybody should rejoice that. Don’t you think?

Secondly, Christmas is not about getting things, its about giving, so spend time with your family and friends. Imagine a life without Christmas, there would be no turkey, no crackers, no cards and no carol singing!

So please Mr Scrooge, celebrate and spend time with your Fred.
